A new very exciting but also daunting challenge faces us. We have been offered half a 40’ ocean container going to Zimbabwe from Toronto September 23rd free of charge. It will be going to the Zimbabwe Gecko Society, run by a senior couple in BC a bit like MEMO.
Check out this video from Zimbabwe Gecko Society to demonstrate what this organization does:
Zimbabwe Gecko Society emphasizes and creates sustainable development working with local organizations that improve crop yields, school education, as well as feeding orphans and building simple rural medical clinics. This last spring 25 University of British Columbia medical students went to these clinics to provide care and teach village doctors.
MEMO will ship by truck to Toronto all the things we have, including: desks, chairs, tables, medical furniture, and equipment for these clinics. We are presently hard at work making 20 pallets of equipment and supplies, from the highly sophisticated 4 renal dialysis units, video conferencing equipment for use in a mission hospital to simple things like bicycles and hand-crank antique sewing machines for use where there is no electricity.
In Toronto it will be transferred to the waiting ocean container. Because of this, everything must be palletized so it can be moved mechanically (forklifts) from truck to warehouse to container.
Please remember us in your prayers that we will have lots of volunteers and wisdom in doing this efficiently.
These are just some of the items we may be sending:
