On Saturday August 23rd 9 a.m. we will be packing container #57 at our Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital Laundry Warehouse. It will contain the Mobile Breast Screening Clinic our volunteers built 2 winters ago. Shalom Clinic intends to operate an outreach into Tuxecuangos with this mobile clinic. As well we will be shipping an ultrasound machine specifically for showing pregnant mothers their unborn babies development. The wife of a former Thunder Bay obstetrician just donated this to us. There will be desks and chairs from the Catholic school board for Amilat school And much more. If you live in the Thunder Bay area please help us next Saturday.

A couple of months ago I was contacted by a pastor’s wife in Mantanzas, Cuba. It is a Los Pinos Nuevos Church which is the denomination we have been working with in Villa Clara. Two members of their congregation are a husband and wife doctor couple. He is a paediatric general surgeon and she is a maxilla facial surgeon (think hairlip repair).  They work in the Mantanzas 200 bed Paediatric hospital which serves the entire Mantanzas province. They are in desperate need to upgrade the hospital’s equipment. So we are talking to them about sending through the local church, everything from anaesthetic machines to IV poles.

The director of the Shalom clinic (Teri Benner) in El Salvador’s elderly father who was the president of the Mission is seriously ill with cancer. As a result she is spending a lot of time caring for him, so the work of getting the clinic ready for opening has slowed down. Eduardo and I had planned to visit the clinic in July to ascertain needs and how MEMO could help. As a result of Don Benner’s illness, we have delayed our visit until October 20th. Other MEMO team members have also delayed visits until spring of 2015. Pray for the Benner family during this difficult time.

On August 28, 2014 at 1:00 pm we are celebrating MEMO’s 10 year Birthday Lawn Party to be held at the Grace Evangelical Church. This will be a time of acknowledgement what impact this Ministry has had on our community and the rest of  Canada and countries it has supported. There will be time to visit and share memories with other volunteers and most importantly it will be a time to acknowledge how great and good our God is. You are all invited!! Elizabeth Pearson is the convenor.

Once again thank you all for your interest and support in so many ways.
